Elaine Lordan

Elaine Lordan's mum committed suicide by jumping in front of a tube train, an inquest jury ruled yesterday.

Bernadette, 62, jumped on to London Underground tracks last March a week after taking a drugs overdose.

Short-lived I'm a Celebrity star Elaine was not present for the verdict, but her sister Sophie accused doctors of letting their mother down. She commented: "She'd still be alive if they had given her the drugs she asked for to help her sleep."

Tube driver Kelvin Rogers told the coroner's court Bernadette was waiting at Highbury & Islington station. He saw her jump when the train was six feet away.

The mother attempted suicide in 1999 and 2002 after separating from her husband Gareth.
