A source told Life & Style that the couple decided to end their relationship because "the long-distance thing proved too much for them".
"They just mutually decided that it wasn't going to work. He didn't want to move to LA, and she certainly can't move to Boston. They're still friends; they just couldn't make it work," said the insider close to Krepelka, a Massachusetts-based sports agent.
McCarthy met him on a blind date after splitting from former boyfriend of five years Jim Carrey in early 2010.
The actress and Krepelka announced that they were dating in December of last year.
