The 21-year-old insisted that her dad taught her to be independent.
She told Company: "It really annoys me when people say I live off my father's money. Even now, if I say: 'Dad, can I have £3?' he'll tell me to go and earn it.
"He grew up in a poor Irish family and it instilled in him - and, in turn, me - this notion that you need to work to get anywhere."
The television presenter explained that she started working at an early age.
She added: "At 14, I had a column in The Sunday Telegraph, then Elle Girl and Nylon."
