TMZ reports that the former Malcolm In The Middle star attended hospital following an argument with partner Elycia Turnbow at their home on Friday evening.
According to a police document, Turnbow alleged that Muniz "grabbed a gun and held it to his head, possibly with the intent of committing suicide", before she called one of his bandmates to ask them to take the musician to hospital.
After returning to the house, officers were called when Turnbow claimed Muniz had punched her in the head - which he denied.
Muniz has since released a statement via his representative, saying: "Frankie and Elycia had an argument a few days ago. The police were called to the residence.
"A gun played no part in the argument and was voluntarily given to the police for safekeeping. There were no bruises and neither left the residence. He was not suicidal. She was not assaulted."
The representative added that the couple are "moving forward with their lives and with their relationship".
