Elizabeth Taylor's condition has improved since her arrival in hospital for suspected congestive heart failure, her representatives have revealed.

The Hollywood icon was admitted to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles last week after experiencing symptoms of the illness.

"Friends and fans around the world should be reassured that Elizabeth Taylor is in good hands and receiving the best possible care from her skilled and dedicated doctors and nurses."

Taylor, who is best known for her portrayal of Cleopatra, has a history of heart-related problems and had to undergo heart surgery in 2009.
