Disney 'reacts to Billy Ray Cyrus slam'

An insider at Disney has struck back at Billy Ray Cyrus's recent claim that daughter Miley's role on Hannah Montana "destroyed" their family life.

In an interview with GQ, Billy Ray claimed that he regrets letting Miley take part in the series, which recently wrapped its fourth and final season.

However, the Disney source dismissed the claims, telling The Hollywood Reporter that the Cyrus family has been consciously planning to "distance themselves" from the network for the sake of their careers.

"We saw it coming for a long time," the insider said.

"She wanted to mature herself, but it kind of backfired. Her future without Disney is TBD."
