The High School Musical actress has had a black-and-white butterfly design inked on her neck, according to a Twitter posting from her friend Ruby Rose.
The Australian model and VJ uploaded a photograph of Hudgens being inked by tattoo artist Bang Bang earlier this week, alongside the message: "Please dont blame me.. But i may have convinced Vanessa hudgens to get a tattoo... Now. Her first.. By bang bang (sic)."
Rose had earlier told followers that the former Disney star was deciding between having the design placed on her neck or her ribs.
Hudgens, who split from longtime boyfriend Zac Efron in December, has been seen attending shows at New York Fashion Week over the past few days.
The 22-year-old can next be seen in the action movie Sucker Punch, which opens on March 25 in the US and April 1 in the UK.
