According to The AP, the former Monster Garage host customizer has inked a deal with Gallery Books to pen the book, which is to be titled American Outlaw.
While a publication date has yet to be confirmed, it is thought that American Outlaw will be released later this year.
James was married to Bullock for five years, before divorcing in 2010 amid press reports that he had carried on an affair with tattoo model Michelle 'Bombshell' McGee.
James confirmed his engagement to LA Ink star Kat Von D in January 2011.
