Gary Glitter will appeal his three-year prison sentence for sexually abusing two young girls.
His lawyer Le Thanh Kinh confirmed the former pop star signed appeal papers at Phuoc Co prison, Vietnam.
Kinh commented: "He told me he was innocent so he has to appeal to clear this matter." Glitter could be considered for release after serving a year of his sentence.
A court ruled earlier this month that Glitter, 61, had molested an 11 and 12 year old at his South Vietnam home.
