Skater Tonya Harding welcomes first child

Former Olympic skater Tonya Harding and husband Joseph Jens Price have welcomed their first child.

According to The Oregonian, the athlete was comforted by her husband as she delivered a baby boy on Saturday at a Washington hospital.

While Harding has yet to comment on the birth, family friend Don Horn stated that both the skater and her husband are "healthy and happy".

"She's always wanted a baby," Horn said. "She was told she could never have a child... and guess what? It really is a miracle and she really is very happy."

Harding and Price were married last June.

The athlete gained infamy for her alleged involvement in a 1994 attack on her Olympic competitor Nancy Kerrigan. She was sentenced to three years of probation after agreeing to a plea bargain.

Harding later made a series of media appearances, including a stint on Celebrity Boxing where she sparred with Paula Jones, the woman who once accused US President Bill Clinton of sexual harassment.
