Morissette: 'Having baby opened my heart'

Alanis Morissette has said that becoming a mother has "open[ed] a door" in her heart.

Posting on her official Facebook page, the singer - who gave birth to son Ever Imre Morissette-Treadway in December 2010 - revealed the changes she has undergone since welcoming the child.

"I am filled with gratitude and inspiration," she wrote.

"Ever has cracked open a door in my heart that I had been dusting off for years in anticipation of this kind of opportunity to love and what I have found on the other side is no less than a golden healing balm and celebration and a responsibility that I feel blessed to take on."

Morissette also expressed her thanks to fans on behalf of herself and rapper husband Mario 'Souleye' Treadway for their well-wishes.

"Suffice it to say for now, I am so grateful for all the kind congratulations you have sent to me and Souleye," she said.

"We are deeply touched by your kindnesses (sic)."

Morissette and Treadway married in May 2010 in Los Angeles.
