While appearing on the NPR show, the Social Network star claimed that although he has never permanently had a Facebook account, he did temporarily sign up for one to see what it was like.
"I had never seen Facebook and then I was rehearsing for the movie and I was, my character was discussing all of these things that I didn't know anything about," Eisenberg explained. "So I got a Facebook page while I was listening to this show and I didn't want to use my own name, so I used your name.
"So the account was deleted soon thereafter," Eisenberg continued, much to Segal's shock.
The actor said that he had always been angry when he saw people imitating him on Facebook, but had now realised that he had been just as bad as they were.
"It never occurred to me until they asked me to do this show, that I had done that to somebody," the actor added. "And I apologise you know, if, you have experienced any strange looks."
Eisenberg is up for 'Best Actor' at tonight's Academy Awards, for his role in The Social Network.
