Justin Bieber's hair sells for more than $40k

A lock of Justin Bieber's hair, taken after his recent restyle, has sold on eBay for more than $40,000.

The popstar, who turned 17 on Tuesday, had presented Ellen DeGeneres with a snippet of his hair in a signed box for her birthday, which she then placed on the internet auction site.

Today's bidding closed at $40,668 (£24,911), with the winner also being awarded a meeting with Bieber next time he guests on DeGeneres's show.

All profits from the auction will be donated to animal rescue group The Gentle Barn Foundation.
