This week's DS Icon is an unusual choice. Unlike the majority of our previous entries she has not been a guest on You Bet!, cameoed in an '80s/'90s BBC sitcom or ever appeared in the CBBC Broom Cupboard. However, today is a very special day in Digital Spy history as our leader/editor/big bad boss Mr Neil Wilkes is bidding the site adieu and will no longer be controlling the reins here at this grubby old interweb rust-bucket. It probably won't make much difference to the site - his iron-fisted rulings have been holding all of us typewriting monkeys back for years - but there will be one slight thing missing from our pages going forward. That thing is Betty White.
Where Mr Wilkes's fascination with TV perennial Betty began is unclear, but it has manifested itself in various unhealthy ways such as stalker-ish news coverage of her showbiz lifestyle ("Betty White receives sex book gift") and an obsession with her most banal day-to-day activities ("White eats fries every day!"). So to pay tribute to our great boss (can we finally get that pay rise now?) during his last day in the office, we thought it was only fitting to let Betty dominate DS one last time.
