Michaels: 'Charlie Sheen is a great guy'

Bret Michaels has professed that his good friend Charlie Sheen is a "really great guy".

During an interview on Piers Morgan Tonight, the Poison frontman expressed his belief that Sheen is not abusing narcotics and insisted that the actor is honest about his faults.

"The Charlie I know is... a really great guy that openly admits he fights demons. The same drive that makes [him] be nothing but great with the public and acting is the same drive that can make you crazy," he said. "Anytime I've been around him - and we've had great times, partied together - never once have I had a bad experience."

The 'Nothing To Lose' singer also surmised that the public might be perplexed by Sheen's seemingly erratic behaviour because they mistake his true personality with that of his Two and a Half Men character Charlie Harper.

"Here's the thing... when you watch Two and a Half Men, it is a hugely popular show," he added. "I think there's a fine line between who is really Charlie and who is Charlie, the actor [performing a role]. I think that could be part of the confusion because whatever he's doing on that show works."

Last week, Morgan said that no-one should criticise Sheen for the way he lives his life.
