Wentz 'challenges Simpson custody request'

Pete Wentz has lodged a challenge to estranged wife Ashlee Simpson's request for sole custody of their 2-year-old son.

TMZ reports that Wentz, who announced his separation from Simpson in a joint statement last month, has submitted documents in response to the singer's divorce petition.

After Simpson initially requested sole physical and legal custody of their son Bronx, Wentz stated in the legal filing that he is seeking joint arrangements between the couple.

In addition, the former Fall Out Boy bassist has asked that each party pay their own legal costs, as opposed to Simpson's documents which sought Wentz to pay for the total bill.
