Tributes come in for Mike Starr

A number of musicians and celebrities have paid their respects to Mike Starr, after the former Alice in Chains bassist died yesterday.

Starr's bandmates had already honoured the musician in an earlier statement, and a number of Starr's contemporaries have since taken to Twitter to mark his passing.

Former Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum said: "Drugs and Alcohol aren't a joke. Please take care of yourself and respect yourself. We lost Mike Starr today Rest in Peace man (sic)"

Motley Crue bass player Nikki Sixx wrote: "RIP Mike Starr. Another fallen soldier to addiction."

Avenged Sevenfold drummer Mike Portnoy told his followers: "RIP Mike Starr… I watched his struggle on Celebrity Rehab and had my fingers crossed for his recovery. This disease kills… sad stuff."

Starr was arrested on drug possession charges last month, before being found dead at a property in Utah yesterday.
