Producers announced the end of the show's run following news that ticket sales had decreased.
The drop in ticket sales followed Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's decision to leave the cast on February 27.
Armstrong played the role of St Jimmy in 50 performances this year and eight performances in 2010.
The singer plans to reprise the role from April 5 for the play's final three weeks.
The Grammy and Tony Award-winning American Idiot will close on April 24 and will prep for a fall tour.
