The actor, who has two children aged 1 and 2, said that it took him a while to become ready for parenthood, but that now he is a father it has completely changed his outlook on life.
"It's kind of hard to explain, but it feels good," McConaughey told People. 'When you have kids then you'll know what I'm talking about.
"I would say that it's no coincidence that the last three movies that I've done have to do with the way that I'm looking at life," the actor added.
McConaughey will star in Richard Linklater's black comedy Bernie this summer, and plays the lead role in suspense thriller The Lincoln Lawyer, which will be released in the US and UK next weekend.
