Jewel feels 'blessed' after car crash

Pregnant singer Jewel has admitted that she is lucky both she and her baby are alive after being involved in a serious car crash on Friday.

The singer-songwriter was driving in Stephenville, Texas on Friday afternoon when a fire truck crashed into the passenger side of her car. Jewel then checked into hospital to ensure that her unborn child was OK.

Representatives for the singer later confirmed that she hadn't suffered any major injuries, but Jewel took to Twitter to alleviate fans' concerns.

"Everything is fine, me & the baby r ok, thanx 4 all your thoughts & prayer, (sic)" she tweeted.

"Doctor said no working out so I'm just going to take it easy this weekend," the singer added yesterday morning. "Just a little sore and banged up but feeling so blessed this morning."

Jewel praised her Cadillac SRC for saving both her and her child's life, saying that their lack of injuries was due to the car's safe design.

She announced her first pregnancy with husband and rodeo champion Ty Murray earlier this year.
