Ken Boyd, who admits to cheating on Hewson with a German neighbour, claimed that the Loose Women star was violent towards him and let fame go to her head.
"I lived in fear of her," he told the News of the World. "The one with a short fuse in our relationship was Sherrie. She'd throw televisions, radios and crockery at me when she wasn't trying to lash out in other ways.I was big enough to defend myself when she went for me and I gave as good as I got verbally, although I never laid a finger on her.
"Sherrie likes to tell everyone I'm the worst thing that's ever happened to her and paint herself whiter than white. But she mixes a sprinkling of fact with a dollop of fiction. I've lost count of the times she's flown into a rage and threatened me over trivial things. Sherrie liked a drink but she could lose it even stone cold sober."
Boyd described a New Year's Eve party when Hewson accused him "eyeing up" a singer. She punched him, causing him to fall down the stairs and land on a pint glass. "I had to have several stitches. It's still numb today where the glass punctured my skin," he said.
Boyd also revealed that Hewson loved the attention that working on Coronation Street brought her and would leave restaurants if she wasn't recognised.
