The studio fired Sheen from Two and a Half Men last week following a string of controversies over the past few months.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, MacFarlane, who worked with Sheen on an episode of Family Guy last year, said that he supported Warner Bros' decision to let the actor go.
"You know, it's a tough question. My personal experience with Charlie on Family Guy was perfectly pleasant. But given the circumstances I do think [Warner Bros] made the right choice. It's hard to say if it can go on without him," MacFarlane said.
The comedian and actor suggested that Sam Rockwell would make a good replacement for Sheen on Two and a Half Men.
