Gottfried, who most famously voiced Iago in Aladdin, has been the voice behind the duck in the Aflac insurance ads since 2000.
He was fired today after the company read about Gottfried's insensitive tweets pertaining to Friday's earthquake in Japan, according to E! News.
"Gilbert's recent comments about the crisis in Japan were lacking in humour and certainly do not represent the thoughts and feelings of anyone at Aflac," the company wrote in a statement. "There is no place for anything but compassion and concern during these difficult times."
Gottfried posted a number of offensive remarks, including: "Japan is really advanced. They don't go to the beach. The beach comes to them."
The tweets have now been removed from Gottfried's Twitter account.
