Paramedics called to Monk's hotel room

Sophie Monk has been taken ill with gastroenteritis.

Paramedics were called to the Australian actress and singer's hotel room in Melbourne early on Saturday morning after she experienced severe stomach pains.

Monk's representative Alex Reid told The Daily Telegraph: "Her family has been sick with it and it seems she has picked it up. She was advised by doctors to rest. Later that day her condition worsened.

"She's had it before. She had it about a year or so ago, only not as bad. When doctors told her what she had, she recognised it from before and then followed their advice to take fluids and bed rest."

As a result of the illness, Monk was forced to pull out of her guest appearance on Project Runway.
