Michelle Obama 'to pen gardening book'

Michelle Obama will pen a book detailing the history behind the edible garden she planted on the White House's South Lawn.

In an announcement released Wednesday, Random House imprint Crown Publishing Group revealed that the volume will see the First Lady explaining the inspiration behind the project as well as sharing healthy recipes enjoyed by the presidential family.

Obama did not a receive an advance and reportedly plans to donate all profits made on the release to an as yet undetermined charity.

According to Reuters, the book will also feature photographs of the garden alongside images of similar community, urban and school gardens around the US. It is scheduled for release in April 2012.

Obama has been a vocal proponent in an official anti-obesity campaign aimed at increasing health and nutrition in American children. She has since said that her own daughters spend much of their own free time being active.
