According to The Hollywood Reporter, the comedy Fat Pig has been pushed back a year.
The show was expected to begin previews in April, but it is now slated to premiere in the spring of 2012.
The Hartman Group, the play's producers, said that the "last-minute fallout of a key investment" led to the delay.
"This did not leave the producers enough time to reacquire the necessary capital and begin rehearsals on schedule to open prior to the Tony Awards cut-off date," the producers said in a statement.
Filmmaker Neil LaBute is directing the project, which centres on a man named Tom, played by Josh Hamilton, who falls in love with a plus-sized young woman named Helen.
Fat Pig will mark LaBute and Cook's Broadway debut.
Stiles joined the play in January. She will play Jeannie, Tom's ex-girlfriend.
