Courtney Love 'wanted to snort Cobain ashes'

Journalist and author Neil Strauss has claimed that Courtney Love expressed interest in snorting the late Kurt Cobain's ashes following his death.

In a passage appearing in his new book Everybody Loves You When You're Dead: Journeys Into Fame And Madness, he recalled an incident shortly after the Nirvana frontman's suicide in 1994 during which Love allegedly presented him with the ashes while making the "serious" suggestion.

"She walks to a dresser, pulls open a drawer, and removes a square-shaped tin. She removes the lid, revealing a plastic bag full of white ashes," he wrote.

"A faint smell of jasmine emanates from the tin. [Love said], 'Too bad you don't do coke. Otherwise I'd suggest taking a metal straw to it'."

Following Strauss's refusal on the grounds that it would not be the "right" thing to do, the Hole singer apparently responded: "I'd like to though."

Love - who married Cobain in 1992 - recently settled a $430,000 (£266,000) lawsuit with fashion design label Boudoir Queen.
