The country singer previously told GQ that starring on the Disney show with daughter Miley had "destroyed" his family, and seemed to suggest that he wished it had never happened.
However, during an appearance on The View - scheduled to air today - the singer said: "I love Hannah Montana. I love Disney. I love our fans who've been with us throughout this whole show. This has been an incredible journey.
"I don't think Hannah Montana ruined my family, but to set the record straight, I love Hannah Montana. I love Disney. That didn't tear my family apart. Now fame, fame is a different animal, you've got to be careful with that thing."
As for his current relationship with Miley, he dismissed the suggestion that she was angry at him about his comments on the Disney show, saying: "It's the best it's ever been."
Hannah Montana, which revolved around a schoolgirl who lives a secret life as a popstar, propelled Miley to international stardom when it launched back in 2006. The series wrapped its four season run with a special one-hour episode in January.
Billy Ray also told the ABC programme that divorce proceedings between himself and wife Tish - the mother of Miley - had been dropped, adding that "things are really the best they've ever been" with his family.
His full interview airs on The View today at 11am ET on ABC.
