Morrissey says he was forced to leave Los Angeles after fans found out where he lived.
The Smiths singer spent many years living in Los Angeles, but had to move to Rome after his address was published on fan websites.
He explained: "It was very difficult with the house, because there was a constant stream of callers. It's not terribly pleasant because I'm very private."
Speaking of his new abode, he added: "The preoccupation with style is so great. You have this constant feast of people who are trying to do their best with their bodies, and it shows. It keeps you on your toes. You can't go around looking like a big fat slob... because you will be noticed."
