Neil Strauss, author of Everyone Loves You When You're Dead: Journeys Into Fame and Madness, claims that Hilton, who is currently preparing a new reality TV show, said in a 1999 interview that black men were "gross".
The heiress was quoted by Strauss as saying: "[An actor and I] were making out, but then we went somewhere where it was bright and I saw that he was black and made an excuse and left. I can't stand black guys. I would never touch one."
He alleges she added that a man being "1%" black is enough for her to stay away.
However, Hilton's representatives have hit out at the claims and said that the 30-year-old celebrity is exploring her legal options.
A spokesperson said in a statement: "These allegations are absolutely untrue and ridiculous. We have sent these claims to Miss Hilton's lawyers to respond further. It's another example of someone making false claims for financial gain."
