The 94-year-old actress was reportedly distraught upon learning that her friend Elizabeth Taylor had passed away yesterday and taken to UCLA Medical Centre.
A representative for Gabor told KABC-TV's On The Red Carpet: "She was inconsolable and her blood pressure shot up to dangerous levels.
"The doctor told [her husband, Fredrik Prinz von Anhalt] to bring her into the hospital so they could medicate and watch her."
The spokesperson also confirmed comments made by von Anhalt to Radar Online. He claimed that his wife had said, "Celebrities go in threes" - referring to the deaths of Taylor and Jane Russell - and expressed fears that she could die.
Gabor has spent much of the last year in and out of hospital and had surgery to amputate part of her right leg earlier this year.
She has reportedly refused further surgery to treat her circulation problems and von Anhalt recently revealed that he does not expect her health to improve.
