Mel B: 'Hard to keep pregnancy secret'

Mel B has thanked fans for their congratulations after she announced her pregnancy.

The Spice Girls star and her husband Stephen Belafonte confirmed that they are expecting their first child together earlier this week. Writing on her official website, Mel B admitted that it had been "hard" to keep the news secret.

"Thank you to everyone for all your well wishes for our baby. Stephen and I are so excited," she said in a blog. "We are just over the moon and happy to finally share the good news with my loyal fans. It was hard keeping it a secret for so long, trust me. I wanted to tell everyone and anyone!"

She continued: "I'm out of the unsafe 3 months now and well on my way to feeling much better. No more morning sickness for me. Yipeeee! Now it's all about looking after myself and my baby (sic)."

The 35-year-old went on to confirm that she is currently working on a new solo album.

"But of course, I love to work," she wrote. "I'm working on my album right now and can't wait for you guys to hear it!"
