Liam Gallagher has said that Twitter is "rubbish".

Speaking at last week's Teenage Cancer Trust charity gig, the Beady Eye frontman told Absolute Radio DJ Ben Jones that he is not a big fan of the social networking site, despite having over 200,000 followers.

Of his infrequent messages, Gallagher said: "I only tweet when someone's got it majorly wrong, you know what I mean, that's the way I use it.

"If someone's barking up the wrong tree I sort of point them in the right direction, but other than that I'm not into tweeting - it's rubbish."

Gallagher previously claimed to use the site as "as a weapon" or "to say thanks to people".

Many of Gallagher's messages on Twitter are about his fashion venture Pretty Green. His last tweets were a pair of messages wishing a Merry Christmas to his wife Nicole Appleton, children Lennon and Gene, friends The Zutons and his brother and former bandmate Noel.

TCT gig highlights can be heard on Absolute Radio.
