Katy Perry has attacked Calvin Harris on Twitter after he pulled out of her UK shows.

The 'I'm Not Alone' musician had been scheduled to open for Perry on her current run of gigs in Britain and Ireland.

However, earlier this evening, the 'Teenage Dream' singer tweeted: "FYI ALL UK & IRELAND RELATED SHOWS @CalvinHarris will NOT be joining in on the fun and has CANCELLED last minute (sic)."

Harris then re-tweeted the message, followed by his explanation. He said: "Sorry to all who wanted to see me with Katy - her team suddenly moved the goalposts, and i was to appear on stage with no production.

"It would have looked s**t, sounded s**t - trust me you would have been more disappointed SEEING the show than u are with me cancelling.

"That's the honest truth," he added, before continuing: "Her show is AWESOME, you'll all have an amazing time without me. (especially w/o me DJing on a cardboard box in front of a pink curtain)."

Perry responded quickly to the claims, tweeting to Harris: "...funny the goal post seems to be perfectly fine for New Young Pony Club, Yelle, Robyn, Marina & The Diamonds to name a few."

In her next tweet, Perry added: "or how bout Janell Monae and her 16 piece band... Etc... it's fine, I'm used to you cancelling on me, it's become ur staple!"

Harris later replied: "I am really sorry @katyperry I'm just upset because I really wanted to play but ur team made it impossible.

"We tried really hard to sort it out, but playing side of stage for 30 mins, it seemed pointless me even being there."

He added: "Didn't intend to cause offence or upset anybody."

Perry has previously spoken of how Harris might be too much of a "big, fat star" to work with her.
