People reports that the pieces - estimated to be worth more than $150 million (£94m) - will be sold through famous New York auction house Christie's in the upcoming months.
Friend and celebrity jeweller Lorraine Schwartz told the publication: "The studios, in order to make her happy, they'd always give her jewellery. So she grew up collecting it.
"People always gave her gifts… it was something that she learned to love. She [had] collections and collections, and rooms. She [knew] where every single piece was. [It was] amazing."
A spokesman for Christie's refused to comment on the reports.
Taylor passed away last week from congestive heart failure. She was 79 years old.
