Nathan Brown has apologised for his recent sexual slurs about Megan Gale.

The former AFL player, who appeared on The Footy Show on Sunday, said that he "didn't mean anything" by the double-entendres he used while hinting at Gale's rumoured relationship with player Shaun Hampson.

During the segment, Brown said: "It was very blustery the other night at the MCG. Shaun Hampson could not quite get the kicking style right and when a gale is blowing for ya, I mean it really works.

"But a couple of times for Shaun Hampson the gale just didn't blow in his direction and he missed a couple of easy ones with this blowing gale."

Yesterday, Brown said: "I didn't mean anything by it other than the fact those two were rumoured to be seeing each other and it was windy and it was blowing a gale. I apologise if anyone took offence as it was not my intention as a play on words."

Gale and Hampson were first romantically linked in January this year after she split from comedian Andy Lee.
