Speaking at the launch of her ITV2 show Kerry Katona: The Next Chapter, Katona explained that Sue may be upset by some of the scenes in the programme.
"My mum gets very sensitive," she said. "My mum is kind of like a fifth child sometimes. I'm always the grown-up, she's the daughter."
However, Katona continued: "My mum has grown as a person. She's been clean for just under a year herself now. Because I've done it, she can do it. She still likes a drink, like. That's my mum, she's never going to change. But she's so much better now than what she has been in the past. It's a growing progress. But she's great, she's on top form."
Referring to a scene in the show in which Katona's manager complains that Sue is trying to spend her daughter's money on a cruise, Katona said: "She'll get a bit upset. My mum can get really sensitive... [But] my mum knows. She was on the show herself. She knows, I don't have to warn her. She knows when she comes that this is my life, it's what I'm doing for my kids to put them through school and things.
"But she is like a child... She's quite sensitive. But so am I. I don't like watching myself back sometimes."
Katona recently claimed that she will never go back to taking drugs.
Kerry Katona: The Next Chapter begins tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2.
