Doherty seen "driving on methadone"

Pete Doherty has been spotted apparently taking methadone before driving off and jumping a red light.

The Babyshambles singer reportedly drank the heroine substitute drug after he had collected it from a pharmacist in Shoreditch, east London.

An onlooker then saw him get into his Jaguar, drive over the pavement and up the wrong side of the road, then skip a traffic light on red.

"I saw Pete go into the chemist's and there was a definite change in his behaviour after he came out," the witness told The People. "He is an absolute menace. How he has still got his licence is beyond me.

"I don't think he was so out of it that he didn't know what he was doing," he continued. "When he spotted two police officers on horseback he calmed down and drove properly before going back to being a madman."
