Kate Moss has dropped her libel suit against Channel Five hours before a trial date was to be set.

The supermodel filed the claim after the channel showed a documentary claiming she had collapsed into a coma from cocaine in 2001.

Naomi Campbell's personal assistant told the show that she had seen Moss snorting the drug and later helped revive her.

Last month the High Court decided that Channel Five could submit the Daily Mirror's pictures of Moss using cocaine as evidence.

Such a move would mean Moss would have had to sign a statement confirming or denying the truth of the pictures.

A Five spokeswoman said the broadcaster "welcomed" Moss's decision.
