Reports of Chan's death had been circulating online and the phrase 'RIP Jackie Chan' had become a trending topic on Twitter as a consequence. The made-up story claimed that the Rush Hour actor had suffered a "heart attack".
"Jackie is alive and well. He did not suffer a heart attack and die, as was reported on many social networking sites and in online news reports," read the statement on his Facebook page.
"Jackie is fine and is busy preparing for the filming of his next movie."
Chan also posted a picture of himself meeting with the Cosul-General of Japan on Tuesday on his official website to provide pictorial evidence of his good health.
The Hollywood star is currently organising a charity benefit for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
