Knightley donates Oscars dress to Oxfam

Published Friday, Apr 7 2006, 10:42 BST | By Daniel Saney
Keira Knightley has handed the dress she wore at the Oscars ceremony over to Oxfam to fund the charity's work in Africa.

Designed by Vera Wang, the gown is a deep claret-coloured one-shouldered piece, which will be auctioned via eBay. Bidding will take place from April 21 until April 30.

Knightley, who was nominated for the best actress award for her performance in Pride and Prejudice, is quoted by Reuters as saying: "This is such an amazing dress and I am really pleased to be able to donate it to Oxfam. I have seen the TV reports on the horrendous drought in East Africa and ... I am happy to be able to do something to help."
