According to The Mirror, the TV presenter was at an awards do with her husband Paul Sampson when their 5-year-old son Oscar made the call, while he and his younger brother Jude were being looked after by a babysitter.
Police were eventually able to contact a "mortified" Gallacher on a mobile number and inform them of the call.
"Kirsty couldn't believe it when she got a call from the police asking what was going on," a friend told the paper.
"It was embarrassing to say the least and the cops weren't happy. But she explained that it was an accident and they accepted her apology."
It was confirmed last week that Gallacher has signed up to front Sky Sports News' new-look Good Morning Sports Fans from May.
