Pennsylvania company Creative Energy Options filed a suit against the Kate Plus 8 star in the state earlier this week, alleging that she failed to arrange payment for services they provided during her break-up from husband Jon in 2009.
According to TMZ, the company claims that Kate requested personnel to "fly to Los Angeles, Califorinia to perform marriage counselling, then refused to pay for services or travel fees".
C.E.O. president Dr Sylvia Lafair told the website that she had personally contacted Kate in the hope of resolving the financial matter in a straightforward way, but was unsuccessful and felt that legal action was the only way to ensure the company was paid.
"There are commitments that people make... and they should be followed through," Lafair said.
They are asking for $10,476 (£6,419) in damages.
Kate recently claimed that she is keeping the peace with Jon following their split for the sake of their eight children.
