During an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Curtin revealed that she often felt stifled by the late comedian, who would apparently try to "sabotage" work that was created by female writers and cast members.
"Their battles were constant. They were working against John, who said women are just fundamentally not funny," she recalled.
"So you'd go to a table read, and if a woman writer had written a piece for John, he would not read it in his full voice. He felt as though it was his duty to sabotage pieces written by women."
Belushi joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 1975, becoming one of the show's breakout stars before leaving to pursue a career in film in 1979. He died in 1982 from a drug overdose.
Former friend and co-star Dan Aykroyd recently confessed that he still misses Belushi and wishes he were alive.
