The This Morning star told viewers on Tuesday morning that his co-host "may or not be" in labour but later confirmed the news. The 30-year-old was due to begin her maternity leave at the end of this week.
However, writing on Twitter this morning, Schofield told followers: "Just spoke to @hollywills who says thanks so much for all your good wishes.
"Here's the current situation, obviously if the baby arrived over the last few days it would be quite early, so the team around her are balancing when is the best time for her to be born."
He continued: "Holly said that she hadn't been in full blown labour since Monday! And though she was having contractions she's as comfortable as can be expected. Everyone fine and happy, but the wait goes on for a little bit longer. I'll let you know if I hear anything else :) (sic)"
It was recently confirmed that Jenni Falconer and Ruth Langsford will present the show alongside Schofield during Willoughby's maternity leave.
Willoughby and her husband Dan Baldwin already have already have 1-year-old Harry together.
