Chris Martin has surprised pub-goers in London by playing a secret gig at a charity benefit.

The Sun reports that the Coldplay frontman was the special act at an event at the Boogaloo in Highgate, where a number of celebrities, including Declan Donnelly and Edith Bowman, were among the audience.

Opening the three-song set, Martin performed a "soppy" unreleased track called 'Wedding Bells', before covering Oasis classic 'Wonderwall'.

Finally, Martin played 'Bright Eyes', throughout which he was accompanied by Simon Pegg on harmonica.

Martin is currently working on Coldplay's fifth studio album, a follow-up to Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends.

Last month, a blogger representing the band revealed that the LP is almost finished.

Pegg, meanwhile, recently told fans that the upcoming Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol marks a reboot rather than a sequel in the series.
