Nicki Minaj 'based hair on Marge Simpson'

Nicki Minaj has admitted that cartoon character Marge Simpson was the inspiration behind her tall beehive hairstyle.

The 'Girls Fall Like Dominoes' rapper has been seen modelling an array of hairstyles recently, but the ones that have caused the most stir are her three-foot-tall beehives that come in a variety of colours.

"Never did I think I would be rocking the Marge Simpson," Minaj told People magazine.

"But you know what, now that I am [wearing] them I realise that she was cutting edge and before her time. So shout out to Marge.

"My wigs are ever-changing in height, width, colour, size. They make me feel happy. Wearing them makes me feel that I can be a different person every day and that is kind of exciting.

"Sometimes I wake up in the morning and I am like, 'This is a high-top day' or 'This is a bob day,' but when I get my clothes on that's when I see."

The Young Money artist recently revealed that she is "honoured" to be touring with Britney Spears in the US this summer.
