Police arrested 21-year-old Nicholas Tracy on Wednesday for allegedly breaking into the rocker's New Jersey house and stealing the gems, reports TMZ.
Tracy reportedly tripped a burglar alarm on one of Bon Jovi's neighbour's properties, alerting authorities to his presence.
He is accused of breaking into several houses in the neighborhood and was charged with four counts third-degree burglary and three counts of second-degree theft. Tracy's bail was set at $100,000.
Authorities say that Tracy almost got away with stealing more than $500,000 (£306,556) worth of jewellery.
According to police, the jewels that Tracy took from Bon Jovi's home belonged to his wife Dorothea Hurley.
Bon Jovi previously signed up to star in the forthcoming film New Year's Eve, the follow-up to the romantic comedy Valentine's Day.
Last year, Bon Jovi admitted to be feeling the pressure of ageing now that he is almost 50.
