The Jamiroquai frontman is based in London, but owns a cottage on the Scottish coast. He told the Manchester Evening News that he enjoys being able to escape to the countryside.
He said: "I'm not interested in the banality of celebrity. I love the peace and quiet and solitude I get in Scotland.
"The weather is terrible up there, but it's a great place to escape to. I can get away from all the nonsense."
The musician also explained that he has a good rapport with local people.
"In all the time I've been in Scotland, no-one has ever asked for my autograph or to have a photograph taken with me," he added.
"The people are just great. I love spending time in the pubs with the locals."
Jamiroquai are currently in the middle of a European arena tour. A recent show in Lyon was cancelled following the death of one of the band's stagehands.
