The Valentine's Day star, who made her acting debut at age 9, told Seventeen magazine that she spent too many of her teenage years worrying that she was misunderstood by her family and friends.
"When I was 16, I was very frustrated all the time. I felt like nobody understood me," Roberts said. "School was stressful, working was stressful, and it's a really tough time for girls to be friends... I felt like I was always in a rush to get somewhere when I had no idea where that was."
Roberts now explains that she's more comfortable in her own skin and has developed a more hopeful outlook on the future.
"Now I just feel content, and I feel like that's a nice place to be," she added. "I've learned that I want to have great people in my life and lots of love in my life, and just enjoy it. I wish I had realised that sooner."
Emma recently revealed that she used a webcam to audition for the role of Jill Roberts in Scream 4, which is now playing in US and UK cinemas.
